Canoeing / Kayaking/ Rafting on the Mulberry River – Our house is located on the Mulberry River between the Redding and the Turner Bend river access points. You can bring your own boats or rent from the available outfitters below.

Turner Bend Mulberry River Outfitter

Turner Bend Mulberry River Outfitter – Located where Highway 23 (the Pig Trail) crosses the Mulberry River, they’ve been in business since 1911. They sell gas, shirts, gifts, local wine, cold beer, and great sandwiches from the deli.

Byrd’s Adventure Center

Byrd’s Adventure Center – Located along the Mulberry River just 5 miles east (upriver) from the Cass House, they are a destination for many outdoor adventures: canoeing, kayaking, rafting, biking, 4×4, ATV/UTVs, flying, and camping.

They have quite a few events happening year-round. You can keep an eye on the latest everts here.

Hiking in the Ozark National Forest

There is excellent hiking in the Ozark National Forest. We recommend the trails below. You can get more information about which trails are open at the Ozark National Forest website.

  • Redding / Spy Rock Loop Trailhead – only 4 minutes from our house, includes great views of the Mulberry River Valley. More info here.
  • Whitaker Point Trailhead – Hawksbill Crag (aka Whitaker Point) may be the most scenic view in Arkansas. It’s just under an hour’s drive to the Trailhead from our house. More info here.
  • Ozark Highlands Trail – this trail is connected from the Redding Loop you see above, so it’s very close to us. With 270+ miles of hiking, the Ozark Highlands Trail is one of the most scenic trails in the country. More info here.
